Toddler Camping…

We got home from camping last night – exhausted. It went very well, despite a foreboding start. We started out late in the day on Friday, swung by Fred Meyer to get marshmallows and hot dogs and found not a single bag of large marshmallows in the entire store! So we settled on some star shaped marshmallows that were almost big enough to put on a stick and headed to the Beacon camping grounds. Well, the camp ground was full – completely full. I lobbied hard for a return to the homestead – but Eric wanted to CAMP. :) We drove east and went over the Bridge of the Gods ( I love that name, feels very mythical even though it’s a steel bridge) and then plugged on to Hood River. The kids were very, very restless after being in the car for almost 2 hours. But we found a campground with a few openings! Hurray! It was almost 7pm by the time we got out of the car and got the tent up. We managed to find some wood for a fire and roasted our star shaped marshmallows ;) and went to bed. The kids LOVED it !! They did a great job of sleeping in the tent. Wulf woke up at about 5 am ready to go! Eric took him out of the tent and on a little hike around the campground. Eowyn and I slept until a decadent 7 am :) Then we all went on a hike to a waterfall, then back into the car to Beacon rock for some more hiking. I was exhausted by Saturday afternoon. Eric left this morning to climb Hood, he should be home tomorrow night sometime. I completely forgot to take my camera – so no pictures for the scrap book .
I’m planning on taking Eowyn to the Kids Space (her new fall preschool) on Wednesday to see if she likes it. I think she will love it :)

Wow, that was what I was thinking about last week – camping with baby and toddlers :) , if it will be possible when we have a baby.
Nice to see that someone really does it and it is possible ;)
    Have a nice day!
